Victor Osimhen is poised to lead Galatasaray's attack in their Champions League opener against Eintracht Frankfurt next Thursday, following a moderate ankle sprain sustained during Nigeria's World Cup qualifier that initially raised fears of a prolonged absence.

The Nigerian striker, who joined Galatasaray from Napoli in a €75 million summer transfer, will skip the Turkish Super Lig match against Eyüpspor this weekend to minimize risks, as confirmed by club sources. "Osimhen is expected to be rested and not risked in the league match away to Eyüpspor, with plans for him to start in the line-up for the Champions League clash in Frankfurt next Thursday evening," Fanatik reported, quoting Kemerburgaz.

Osimhen was substituted in the 35th minute of Nigeria's 1-0 win over Rwanda on September 6 after collapsing in pain in Uyo. Galatasaray promptly arranged a private jet to return him to Istanbul for medical evaluation, bypassing the Super Eagles' subsequent fixture against South Africa.

Scans at the club's sponsor hospital revealed a moderate sprain with ligament stretching and bleeding, prompting immediate treatment. Team doctor Yener İnce stated: "Tests conducted at our sponsor hospital revealed a moderate sprain with bleeding in the ankle ligaments of our player Victor Osimhen. Treatment has begun to ensure his return to the pitch as soon as possible."

The 26-year-old, who netted 37 goals in 41 appearances last season, discussed his condition with manager Okan Buruk upon arrival and expressed willingness to prioritize the club's European campaign. With Mauro Icardi not fully fit, Barış Yılmaz is set to start up front against Eyüpspor, allowing Osimhen cautious management ahead of the September 18 Frankfurt tie.
